SKIPPING A BEAT by Sarah Pekkanen
I still have this novel in my room, I so need to return it to the library soon! Anyways, at the start I was a bit reluctant to read this because the cover and title didn’t seem appealing to me. As you can tell I’m really picky with what I read, but at the same time I just pick out anybook.
Michael (husband) and Julia (wife) leave their old life and move out together to start a new life. Through their dreams and accomplishments, eventually becoming millionares, their work life keeps them on their feet around the clock that they slowly drift apart, becoming strangers in their relationship.
Then one day Michael collapses and comes back to life. He decides then and there that he wants to make everything he has done wrong right, especially to his wife. First he decides to live a poorer but happier life and secondly he asks Julia to give him 3 weeks to make it up to her. Will 3 weeks be enough to make Julia to fall in love with him again?
I’ve got to say that this would be one of the sweetest, deepest novels I’ve read in a while and what is great about his novel is that it totally caught me off-guard! This is more than a love story, it’s about family, hope, decisions in life and it teaches you a lesson not to take everything for granted. To live life to the fulliest but at the same time not compromising your promises to your significant other.
